About Dr. David Lombard
Dr. David Lombard, PhD, is a licensed psychologist with over 30 years of experience in clinical and forensic practice. For many years, he has focused primarily on forensic psychological evaluation, working with family, criminal, and civil courts, and with the attorneys who represent parties before them. His practice centers on child custody and parenting fitness evaluations, as well as competency and sanity evaluations for adult and juvenile courts, and expert case consultation. He is currently completing refresher training to reintroduce several additional forensic services he has previously provided, including immigration waiver evaluations, disability evaluations, violence risk assessments, fitness-for-duty evaluations, and competency-to-contract evaluations.

Approach
Dr. Lombard's approach to forensic work is built on two commitments that, in his experience, aren't in tension: a rigorous, evidence-based method and genuine respect for everyone a case touches. Evaluations follow the standards set out in the APA Ethics Code and the specialty guidelines relevant to each type of referral, including the APA Guidelines for Child Custody Evaluations in Family Law Proceedings and the AFCC Guidelines for Parenting Plan Evaluations. He maintains strict separation between forensic and clinical roles and does not provide therapy to any party in a matter he is evaluating.
Outside his forensic practice, Dr. Lombard also serves as a pastor. He mentions this not because it shapes the substance of his evaluations (a forensic evaluation is a secular, evidence-based process, and he holds that boundary carefully) but because it's part of why the work matters to him. Families dealing with criminal trials and families in the middle of custody litigation are often facing one of the hardest periods of their lives, and he believes that thoroughness and compassion aren't a trade-off. An evaluation can be exacting and still be conducted with genuine care for the people involved.
